Course Overview

Take the next step in your career in disabilty with this mid-level qualification.  CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability will give you the skills you need to play a lead role in the provision of individualised support and care to people in home, community, or health care settings.

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of community settings and clients’ homes, who provide training and support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.

You will learn how to support independence and wellbeing, gain a range of technical skills, and develop a range of transferable skills from communication to teamwork. This specialised course will give you the skills to facilitate the empowerment of people with disabilities, and support community participation and social inclusion. Course Requirements

To achieve a CHC43115 – Certificate IV in Disability via the accelerated pathway you must have recently completed the Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) and attend all 4 days of face-to-face training.

Entry Requirements

Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) is a pre-requisite for the Certificate IV in Disability -Accelerated pathway and assumes the recognition of relevant credit transfers.  

Akadia Training does require that you complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills (LLN) assessment to determine your ability to successfully complete your training. If you believe you may experience difficulties with any aspect of LLN assessment, please talk to us and we will be able to help you.

Higher Level Skills Program

Higher Level Skills Program

Funded by the Queensland Government the Higher Level Skills program provides eligible individuals with access to a subsidised training place in selected certificate IV level or above qualifications, and priority skill sets.

The aim is to assist individuals to gain the higher level skills required to secure employment or career advancement in priority industries or to transition to university to continue their studies. Employers may also be able to access training to address workforce development needs.

Akadia Training is a Skills Assure Supplier to deliver training and assessment for the Certificate IV in Disability under the Higher Level Skills Program.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is a form of assessment and is offered to all students once you have enrolled into your qualification. RPL provides an opportunity for a range of knowledge and skills relevant to this qualification and the job role to be assessed and recognised before formal training commences.

RPL will require you to discuss your experience with your trainer, gather evidence to support the RPL process, and participate in a workplace observation visit with your workplace supervisor and one of our trainers.

Direct Credit

If a student has existing qualifications that may be related to this qualification, they will be encouraged to present those qualifications or Statements of Attainment (SOA) to their trainer. Existing qualifications or SOA will be assessed against the requirements of the current Certificate III in Individual Support to determine if any credit transfers are appropriate. 

Refund Policy

Once training has commenced, refunds will be given on a pro-rata basis, in accordance with the agreed training plan. For those units which students have commenced training in, (those in which resources and/or any training has been received) fees will be refunded on a pro rata basis. If fees have been paid in advance and training has not commenced nor resources issued, then fees for those units will be refunded in total. Students may appeal in writing to the Training Manager regarding this refund policy. If a student withdraws from a workshop or agreed training session without notifying Akadia, a refund will not be issued for that unit or workshop.
